It concerns the fact that the night sky should not appear dark in a very large (or infinite), ageless Universe. It should glow with the brightness of a stellar surface.
The paradox cannot be resolved by assuming that parts of the Universe are filled with absorbing dust or dark matter because eventually that material would heat up and emit its own light. The resolution of Olber's paradox is found in the combined observation that 1) the speed of light is finite (although a very high velocity) and 2) the Universe has a finite age, i.e. we only see the light from parts of the Universe less than 15 billion light years away.
Has this made sense to you? Are you more puzzled now or is it clearer?
Rafael just recommended this site where there is more info. on Olber´s paradox. It is really good as it has a reading with its narration. Very useful for language learning. Good find, Rafael, thanks for sharing!!! Vanessa also recommended this reading.

I think that this is a interesting topic about the universe and i think that it is a good idea to have the study of the universe as one of the topic of english 1113.
this site is very good and the best thing is that confidence is certified by NASA. I believe that understanding why the sky is dark at night and it seemed incredible to establish the fact of the universe as finite as well as having a finite age, until now I thought that the universe was infinite
Really I think that this site has a very interesting topic. I have never thought the question of why the space is black. also it is confuse becosuse it talk about the finite or infinite of the space and its expansion.
i think it's very interestng because when we see the photos of telescopes we see that the universe is so colorfull. i also think that we shouldn't think the universe as one, i think there most be millions and billions of diferents universe. i don't believe we are the onlyone in the whole world!

I never heared about Olber's paradox, but after reading that information, I'm clear.
Is easy believe that exist many galaxies or universes with the information gathered by astronomers and scientific. I think this paradox could answer some questions about universe and space
this topic is very interesting because i also think that the universe has a finite age.. this paradox in the future could be an answer of a lot of question that we have
this is a very interesting topic,i am really happy for have to study things such as this. i had never imagine somethin like that, that the sky shall be brightter.
if that reading is one second cosmic radiation basic that impregnates the sky, that is to say, the dark implies that the universe is not infinitely old, if were therefore the light of stars leaked in already in all the corners of the universe and sees a hot one and uniforms brilliance through sky… says that the intensity of these bottoms is of 2,3 times but shining that of the visible light of the universe. the first implication is that the universe this dust plenty and the second implication is that a certain identified source does not generate two thirds of the light of cosmo. this emission can come as much from great galaxies as of small galaxies.
That is a nice question, Why space is black. It had never come to my mind. Is really interesting how the finite or infinite age of the universe is related with the appearance of space.
